Cottonwood got its name as the meeting place where farmers and ranchers met at the Cottonwood trees to sell or trade their goods. The Cottonwood Tours are held at the Cottonwood Cemetery, established in 1878 on the land donated by Alexander Strahan, father of Callie Strahan who was Jane’s second great aunt.
